Franco began his career in the corporate sector, where he managed marketing and sales contracts, patent litigation, acquisitions and general management, rising to the level of Vice President and Patent Counsel. He also practiced law in the intellectual property prosecution and litigation department of a law firm that was San Diego's largest at that time.
Franco has been named one of San Diego's top intellectual property attorneys in a survey by the San Diego Daily Tribune. He has a vast international experience and is fluent is English, Italian, French and German, and conversational in Spanish.
Franco is admitted to practice in California, the District of Columbia and the United States Patent and Trademark Office, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of California and for the District of Columbia.
Franco is a Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law and holds a Doctorate in Chemical Engineering from the University of Padova, Italy.
